Abstract
MullaSadra Shirazi is the one who investigate the various aspects of love based on the ideas of the mystics before him. In his opinion, human love may be a connecting link to reach God, if guided in the proper path. Through visualizing such love, this path may be introduced so that the human beings become aware of its existence besides taking steps towards it. Although it initially seems that it is not possible to exhibit such love, by examining MullaSadra’s opinions and thoughts, it is concluded that such love can be depicted through showing some signs. Cinema is one of the suitable ways to depict this love. The present research answers the question that how is the mystical love’s reflection in melodrama cinema of Iran through collecting the materials by library method as well as evaluating the obtained data by a descriptive-analytical method. Hence, while investigating The White Nights movie as an example of melodrama cinema of Iran, the current study assesses the reflection of mystical love on a case study, proposing the hypothesis that filmmakers’ attention to mystical themes may become the context of the formation of mystic cinematographic works based on the Islamic mysticism. Through application of carnal love from the viewpoint of MullaSadra, The White Nights has proved the possibility of realization of mystical love in Iranian cinema.
